On July 19, 1986, the San Diego Police Department hosted an open house of its new, 43.7 million dollar, seven story, police headquarters at 1401 Broadway. Commander Ken Fortier, the head of the Special Projects/Long Range Planning Unit, was on hand to serve as a tour guide.
