In the closing days of the Office of the San Diego City Marshal, and the early days of the San Diego Police Department, crime reports were filed on the Chief's personal letterhead.  Given the department was officially founded on May 9, 1889, this report from May 10th is most likely the first crime case ever documented by the San Diego Police Department
