When the San Diego Police Historical Association created the Jefferson “Keno” Wilson Award for Law Enforcement in 2004, it set its award criteria exceptionally high.
To even be considered for the award, potential nominees must have a demonstrated a tract record of exceptionally performance, a high degree of job knowledge, a stellar work ethic and a habit of not drawing attention to themselves or their work.
The unanimous nominee was Detective Donna Williams.
A member of the Child Abuse Unit since 1989, Donna understood the challenges of working an investigative assignment where innocent children were beaten, molested and sometimes murdered. Despite the vicarious emotional hazards associated with such an assignment, Donna not only eagerly accepted the unit’s toughest cases, she mentored fellow detectives and served as the unit’s subject matter expert. Her work put countless child abusers and molesters behind bars and brought justice to societies most vulnerable members.
For her commitment to justice and dedication to her duties, Donna Williams was awarded the 2004 Jefferson “Keno” Wilson Award for Law Enforcement.
