Harvey Carl Weiss, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died peacefully on October 13, 2004 of kidney failure at San Diego Hospice.

He was born May 25, 1920 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Carl Ernest and Alta Hannah Harvey Weiss. He married LaVoyle (Sally) Wilkins October 21, 1941; she passed away April 10, 1978. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He loved again and married Carolann Phalan April 20, 1984.

Harvey enjoyed a good and full life; he did everything he wanted to do and more. He retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer, San Diego Police Sergeant and Special Ed teacher. He was the County of San Diego's 1992 Volunteer of the Year. He taught AARP's 55 Alive safe driving course. He worked at the election polls and regularly went into the schools to speak about Pearl Harbor. He could talk with anyone and loved to tell his stories. He was very patriotic and loved his country. He belonged to the Pearl Harbor Survivors Assn., Chapter 3, Nathaniel Parmenter Assn., Crossroad Lodge and several others.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carolann Weiss; son, Max Harvey Weiss, West Jordan; stepdaughter, Marvett Hunter, San Diego; nine grandchildren; 12 great - grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Rudolph and Gertrude Schilling; grandson, BJ Addison.
