Joan Vannucci, 78, Brookings, died Sept. 22, 2000.
She was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Elizabeth, N.J.
She spent five years in the U.S. Army; two years in New Guinea, Lytle and Manila. In 1948, she was discharged as a sergeant.
She lived in Southern California before moving to Brookings in 1992.
Mrs. Vannucci has surviving relatives in New York, New Jersey and California.
Preceding her in death was her husband Victor Vannucci in 1956; son Vic Vannucci in 1995
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Brookings VFW Hall.
She was cremated and her ashes interred at Point Loma Military Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
