A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery for John R. Lewis, 51, a San Diego Police Department lieutenant who died Friday in a hospital. Cremation was conducted under the direction of Greenwood Mortuary.

Mr. Lewis was born in California and lived in the county 51 years.  He was a resident of the Lake Murray area.  He was a police officer for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; two daughters, Karen Lewis of San Diego and Kristin Brown of Alaska; one sister, Joan Ecklund of El Cajon; and his mother, Gladys Lewis of Lemon Grove.  The family suggested contributions to the Cancer Society.
