Services for John J."Zem" Zemcik, 66, of Ocean Beach, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Greenwood Mortuary. Entombment will be in Greenwood Mausoleum. He died Sunday in a hospital.

Mr. Zemcik, a native of Wisconsin, lived in the county 45 years and was a licensed accountant and a retired San Diego Police Department officer and San Diego Unified School District teacher. He was a Marine Corps platoon sergeant during World War II and was a member of Blackmer Masonic Lodge 442 and the Scottish Rite.

In 1986 Officer Zemcik was awarded the SDPD Medal for Valor for saving the life of a deputy marshal in 1954.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, James of Irvine, Calif., and Bradley of El Toro; a sister, Beatrice Loayza of Illinois; and two grandchildren.
