KOWAL, JON Sept. 11, 1927 to Feb. 13, 2003 Jon, a 75 year San Diego resident, graduated from Ocean Beach Grammar School, Point Loma High and San Diego State (B.A. in 1955 following military service). He was a member of Demolay, F. (John D. Spreckles Logde), Quiigs, Sigma Chi (Pro Counsel 1955), "Beach Boys" of Ocean Beach, and sunset Surfers.

A veteran actor with local theatre groups including the Coronado Playhouse and Old Globe Theatre where he received the Atlas Award in 1960, as Best Actor in a leading role for "A View From the Bridge."

He was a San Diego City Lifeguard for 14 years, followed by several professional movie roles and TV credits before becoming a Real Estate Broker in the Mission Beach area.

His military service from 1950 to 1954 included Rangers and 102nd Airborne, ending as First Lieutenant, USAR.

He is survived by his former wife Wilma Kowal; brother, Jay Kowal; nephew, Q. Jay Kowal; and 2nd greatnephew Shane D. Kowal. Military Service 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
