Kurt F. Berner, 56, of El Cajon died Monday. He was born in Somerville, Mass., and was a supervising welfare fraud investigator for the San Diego District Attorney's Office.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Berner; sons, Sam Berner of Orlando, Fla., and Joe Berner of Alpine; mother, Gladys Berner of San Diego; brother, Gerald Berner of Jamul; and five grandchildren.
