San Diego Police Department
Investigations I/Vice/Permits and Licensing
Monica’s many duties in Vice included developing and maintaining functional expertise regarding laws, policies and procedures related to the permitting, oversight and inspection of Police Regulated Businesses. She collaborated with the ABC Sergeant to determine appropriate conditions for new alcohol permits or modifications to existing permits. She collected and analyzed statistical and other data characteristics and utilized a variety of databases and computer programs to monitor trends and develop reports.
Monica maintained the Proposition 26 database and generated periodic reports to ensure compliance.
She also assisted with the preparation of periodic reporting documents such as the Quarterly Management Report, the Operations Manuals, California Public Records Act Requests (CPRA) and the City of San Diego OnBase program.
Monica was known as the mother of Vice. She cared for and looked after the office and everyone who called it home. From welcome signs, to personalized holiday gifts and the never ending cleaning of the office-space, Monica went above and beyond for those she considered coworkers and friends. Every person who worked with Monica felt the impact of her love and support. Her career with the San Diego Police Department was long and one she was quite proud of. She held her Department in such a high regard. When Monica spoke with others of her agency, she would light up and boast that we were the best out there. She has made a lasting impact on the department and the people she worked with.
She will be truly missed.
