In March 1981, the Northeastern Area Station opened for business in temporary trailers at 13396 Salmon River Road. The station was established to accommodate the predicted growth in the area.

The station was to serve until the new, 16,000 square foot permanent
facility opened.

Captain Joseph W. Schwalbach was the first commanding officer.

Original staffing was 51 officers and support staff for patrol, investigations and administration.

The permanent station was dedicated on February 5, 1989.
