Roy Franklin Kelley, born on January 4, 1925, passed away on November 18, 2009.

Roy was a man of deep faith, loyalty and courage, dedicating himself to a life of service to both family and community.

Following his marriage to Marjorie (Teeter) Goehring, on November 9, 1951, Roy moved to San Diego where he joined the SDPD in '54.

Sgt. Kelley inspired and trained many officers, including Mayor Sanders, supervised the original School Patrol program, retiring after 20 years.

He went on to serve as special security for Mrs. Joan Kroc and Mr. Tom Sefton. Roy was also a member in good standing of Masonic Lodge #35, Scottish Rite, and Al Bahr Shrine POA.

Most importantly, Roy was dedicated to his family. He held his wife Marjorie in the highest regard and as a father, he encouraged faith and compassion along with a love for nature and the arts.

Following over a decade long battle with Alzheimer's, he surrendered, enjoying music until the end and remarkably, never forgot how to say, "I Love You."

Dad/Grandpa we love, honor, forgive and miss you. Roy is preceded in death by parents, Sherman S. Kelley and Eva Grace (Sweet), five brothers and four sisters. He is survived by wife Marjorie; daughter Katherine Kelley and her children, Benjamin, Brianna and Jessica; son Michael Kelley; stepdaughter Jean Phillips; stepsons Bill and wife Pat Goehring, and Jerry and wife Michelle Goehring; brother Quentin and wife Hazel Kelley; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
