The Sorrento Substation would be long forgotten had it not been for a few references in old news articles.

Despite the 1914 article proclaiming the opening of the station, a May 1912, article references the station in existence.
To date, the earliest indicator of the station being established was in the January 20, 1912, San Diego Union.

In December of 1914, additional men were detailed to the Sorrento Station, now called"Substation #2".

There's no information as to where it was located. A February 26, 1915, San Diego Union article mentions a voting polling place being located in "the former Sorrento Substation."
