Timothy Wayne Huckstep, age 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, in his home in Dillon, MT.
Tim was born in San Diego, CA, and was a 1971 graduate from Oak Grove High School in San Jose, CA, where he won awards for best personality and biggest flirt, which he was particularly proud of.
Tim enlisted in the United States army upon high school graduation and served three years during the Vietnam war. Upon receiving a honorable discharge, Tim became a San Diego police officer at the age of 21 years old. Tim was also a truck driver for Coors and Pepsi-Cola, and was medically retired as a correctional officer for the state of California in 2001.
Tim was given a twenty percent chance to live five years so he moved his family to Stevensville, MT, where he wanted to live out his remaining days. Tim beat the odds and lived 18 happy years, including his final three in Dillon, MT which he also referred to as God’s country.
Tim was an honest, hardworking man who filled other people’s lives with joy and strived to make everyone laugh. He lived his life by a saying, “The truth will set you free”, and had a love for life greater than most.
Tim enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, baseball, and anything involving the outdoors. Tim was a lifelong student and loved learning everything he could about nature and how things worked. Tim will forever be remembered for his humor, and always remaining positive during the valleys and peaks of this journey we call life.
Tim has joined our Lord in heaven and is survived by his wife, Ghia; two sisters, Judy
and Jackie; a brother, Gary; three sons: Paul, Robbie, and Lance; a daughter, Nicole Marie-Elaine; a grandson, Blake; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends including twins Shawn and Shane Root.
