ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE TINA WILLIAMS

Tina Williams was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police effective January 20, 2024.
Assistant Chief Williams brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and is committed to the success and improvement of the Police Department.
She began her career with the San Diego Police Department at Southeastern Division Patrol, where she remained for over ten years. Additionally, she worked the Gang Suppression Team as an officer, where she later returned as a sergeant. She was a sergeant at Eastern Division Patrol, and a detective sergeant for the Graffiti Strike Force.
Assistant Chief Williams was the Northern Division Administrative Lieutenant, where she later returned as the Commanding Officer.
Assistant Chief Williams is the second female in the history of the San Diego Police Department to successfully complete the SWAT Academy, serving thirteen years on the team prior to becoming the SWAT Commander.
Assistant Chief Williams currently oversees the Watch Commander, Research Analysis and Planning, the Criminal Intelligence Unit, Internal Affairs, Special Events and Emergency Planning.
Assistant Chief Williams holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from National University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
