William A. "Bill"' Holmes, Sr. March 2, 1931 - September 19, 2022

San Diego William A. "Bill" Holmes, Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022, surrounded by family.

He was born to parents Dorothy and Arden Knudsen in Walla Walla, Washington. He graduated from Hoover HS class of 1949 in San Diego. It was there he met his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy L. Young, whom he married in 1950. They had 3 loving children.

He joined the Navy in 1949 and served proudly in the Korean War. He spent time as a SD City bus driver and a truck driver for Pepsi-Cola. For 35 years, he thrived as a top agent with State Farm Insurance. He also served as a Reserve Police Captain and Vice Officer with SDPD.

He is survived by his cherished companion of 13 years, Lois Yahr, his children Sheila (John), Bill Jr. (Debra) and Brenda (Don, late), 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
