A retired reserve police officer, Jerry Jones served the SDPD from the early 1970's until the mid 1980's.

He was also retired from a private sector job in the automotive industry. 

Deputy Director Jones served the San Diego Police Historical Association from 2004 until 2008.  He then took on a role as Deputy Director to President Rick Carlson.
