Robert passed away peacefully on December 10, 2009, at the age of 99, in San Diego.
He was predeceased by his first wife Nancy, second wife Helen and daughter Nancy Byrd.
He is survived by sons Robert and William, two sisters Berta and Carolina, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
