Timothy Keith Faubel, a dedicated public servant and beloved family member, passed away on March 2, 2025, in El Cajon, California.
Born on March 1, 1959, in Coronado, California, to Roger and Polly Faubel, Tim lived a life marked by commitment, courage, and an unwavering passion for everything he pursued.
Tim attended Monte Vista High School from 1973 to 1977. 40 years later he was entered into the MVHS Hall of Fame for his outstanding football performance as a line backer. He continued his education at Grossmont College, Sonoma State University, the University of Nevada - Reno, and Cal Lutheran University from 1977 to 1980.
His athletic talent led him to be drafted by the Boston Breakers of the United States Football League in 1983. However, Tim had chosen a different path-one of service-by entering the academy of the San Diego Police Department.
Tim served the city of San Diego with distinction. He was a SWAT team officer, an undercover narcotics team leader, and one of the most highly respected special investigations officers in SDPD history. His dedication and excellence were recognized when he was named Peace Officer of the Year in 2003. After an illustrious career marked by bravery and integrity, Tim retired from the SDPD in 2014.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tim was known for his boundless enthusiasm for life. He had a deep love for fishing and surfing and was passionate about all things football. Whether at work or play, Tim gave everything he had-100% effort in every endeavor.
Tim faced his toughest challenge with the same determination that defined his life by battling Parkinson's disease with remarkable strength and resilience.
Tim is survived by his life partner Julie Ansley; his mother Polly Siskowic; his son Trace Faubel (and his wife Janine); his daughter Taneil Belcher, and grandchildren River and Rhett Belcher. He is also survived by siblings Renée Andrade (Mike), Maureen Judish (Tom), and Pete Faubel (Lori), as well as five nieces and nephews, and seven grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Tim was predeceased by his father Roger Faubel.
Tim's legacy of dedication, perseverance, and love will continue to inspire those who knew them. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
